In a nutshell, Kinoshita is destined to become a Vocaloid legend someday. I wonder what makes him so talented but damn his songs are great. So when I learned he published a new song I jumped on the occasion.
It has been quite some time since the last time but I think the wait was worthwhile.
I published a video of my translation on Youtube and Nicovideo!
When I first heard the song, I was absolutely entranced by it. Without even thinking I went on Twitter and asked for permissions in public… that was probably not a good idea but I really wanted to secure a chance to be the first to do it.
The song is about Una Otomachi and Rin Kagamine putting up a dance night for everyone who's depressed then inviting them to join in. It is a cute and straightforward song. The rhythm was enticing and the mix of English and Japanese well done.
A song like that sure makes for an interesting challenge. The main lines in Japanese were often cut by some sentences in English and the song had a lot of shorter line than what I was used to.
Yet I had some difficulties with the terms 夢色. I translated it as “colourful lights” because I thought of the stars seem to dance as they shine.
My original plan for this project was actually to make a hybrid English/French translation where the parts in English in the original version were translated into French. However, the results were not good once I started to edit the video. The video was confusing with the French and English text on the screen at the same time. So I decided to change it to a pure English translation.
This experience of editing a video was very interesting. So I might ask for permission for more videos in the future so look forward to it.
